Milagros
2022
Inkjet print and gold foil on printer paper
Edition of 20

This print is inspired by traditional Spanish-Catholic milagro votive charms. These charms, typically made of embossed metal, represent different body parts. Milagros can be worn for luck and protection, or given as an offering at a shrine or church. It is thought that these charms heal the physical or spiritual ailments they represent. People often wear milagros that represent the healing of ailments of themselves or loved ones.

This print is a tracing of my body, printed with gold foil. A list details the meanings I assigned to each of my represented body parts. I hung these prints on telephone poles in my neighborhood, offering my body of healing milagros to the public. Images show the progression of the print over time as my body is ripped apart.
